Giant Ladybirds Seen in Landkey!

June 2011 saw the completion of the Landkey bus stop art work by local artist Simon Cox featuring our Ladybird logo at the top of the hill and some of our children gathered with others involved to record the event.

Inspired by Simons colourful artwork we decided to
brighten up our playground area at nursery too! The large tarmacked area is now painted with a giant numbered ladybird, a colourful alphabet caterpiller, a road runner track and various shapes and games for the children to enjoy. We have also commissioned some themed outdoor wall boards for the children to use in creative play while using the outdoor space.

Ladybirds buy Methodist Church

Ladybirds owner, Cathy McKendrick has bought the Old Methodist Church adjacent to Ladybirds nursery. This means that Ladybirds now own virtually the entire site of what was once Landkey Methodist Church, Methodist School and Stable block.

Plans for the building, a grade 2 listed site, have yet to be formulated but you can be sure that the building will evolve into a useful and purposeful facility whilst retaining its character and impressive features in line with the aims and principles of National Heritage.

What the purchase also gives us is the major part of the car park at the North of the site. The local Methodist Church had very kindly allowed Ladybirds to use this car park whilst reconstruction works were undertaken on the Baby Unit building last year. The puchase now means that we have a car park with at least twice the capacity of the old one
